The storyWhy this reference matters
Tissot has spent 30 years buying sports timekeeping, and you need that to make sense of this watch. Official timekeeper of UCI cycling since 1995, of international ice hockey since 1996, of MotoGP since 2001, of the Superbike World Championship since 2011 and of the NBA since 2015, plus rugby's Top 14. This isn't hoarding sponsorship: it's timing infrastructure, and the brand puts it on display in the catalogue.
The Supersport Chrono is where all of that physically lands. It's the case that carries the NBA team specials, the Tour de France editions and the seasonal liveries, because it has the size and the price to take them without drama. The name isn't entirely a coincidence either: Supersport is also the name of one of the classes in the Superbike World Championship, the series Tissot has sponsored since 2011.
Inside is an ETA G10.212, and here Tissot does give you the number. It's a quartz chronograph 29.80 mm across and 5.12 mm tall, four jewels, hours, minutes, jumping small seconds at six, a date window and counters for 1/10 second, 60 seconds and 30 minutes. ETA's PowerDrive electronics drive those hands at more than 200 steps per second, in both directions.

IdentificationHow to tell it apart
The measurements are unmistakable: 45.5 mm across, 11.92 mm thick, 22 mm lugs and 188 grams with the bracelet fitted. That weight is part of the watch's character; if what's in your hand feels light, it isn't this one. The bezel ring is aluminium and fixed — it doesn't turn.
This particular reference is the black dial with plain indices, Super-LumiNova hands and a steel bracelet. The folding clasp has a safety catch and a wetsuit extension, a detail inherited from the Seastar side of the family that is close to decorative here: the bezel doesn't turn and the watch isn't meant to go down on a tank. The bracelet is quick-release.
The same family exists in 42 mm, so if you're weighing up two examples, measure the case before you study the dial. And don't confuse it with the T-Race, which is the line Tissot officially ties to MotoGP, with its brake-disc bezel and a magnifier over the date.
CollectingWhat collectors check
Buy this as a watch to wear, not as an investment. What justifies the money is the package: sapphire, a genuine 100 metres, a steel bracelet with quick-release and a Swiss chronograph that measures tenths. None of that appreciates, but all of it can be enjoyed daily without flinching.
Second-hand, the weak point is the aluminium bezel ring: it scratches easily, loses its tone over the years, and isn't a part anyone replaces lightly. Then test the chronograph — start it, stop it, reset it, and check all three counter hands land dead on zero. If one sits off, the watch has taken a knock or somebody botched a battery change.
And bear in mind that these quartz calibres aren't opened for repair. ETA publishes nothing for them beyond electrical tests and hand-fitting, so when the movement fails it gets swapped whole. At 188 grams in a 45.5 mm case, measure your wrist before you fall for it: this is a watch you notice all day.
