The storyWhy this reference matters
The S/el appeared in 1987 as TAG Heuer's flagship, and what made it recognisable wasn't the case but the bracelet: double-S links, integrated into the case to the point where conventional lugs became redundant. It was a commercial success on a colossal scale. In its first twenty years, more than two million S/el and Link watches were sold, a figure few Swiss collections can put on the table without stretching it.
In 1999, the year LVMH bought the brand, the S/el became the Link, simply because the link was what people identified it by. Along the way came the association with Ayrton Senna, who wore an S/el chronograph, and that's why TAG Heuer went on building tributes to the driver around this case and this bracelet for years.
The current redesign started where nobody expected: in 2016, with the women's version, which introduced a new case. It worked, and in 2017 the same language reached the men's line at 41 mm, with a case halfway between round and cushion and the bezel fitted as a superimposed ring. This WBC2110.BA0603 is one of the three references that series launched with.

IdentificationHow to tell it apart
The most useful figure on the whole spec sheet is 13 mm between the lugs. It isn't a misprint: because the bracelet is integrated into the case, that measurement is the anchor point and not a strap width. Translated: you cannot fit a normal 20 or 22 mm strap to this watch. If someone shows you a Link on a standard leather strap, it isn't this reference.
Black dial with a sunray finish, rhodium-plated hands and indices with white Super-LumiNova, and a date window at three. The launch siblings are the WBC2111.BA0603 with a silver dial and the WBC2112.BA0603 in blue. All share the 41 mm case, 11.17 mm of height and 100 metres of water resistance.
Don't confuse it with the Link Chronograph. The collection's chronographs carry a CBC prefix instead of WBC, have registers on the dial and run a Calibre 17 rather than a Calibre 5. Head on, the cases look almost identical; the reference clears it up in a second.
CollectingWhat collectors check
The bracelet is the watch. Those double-S links carry a great many pins and every one of them wears: hold the watch by the clasp and let it hang, and if the bracelet stretches noticeably or rattles, you know where things stand. Replacement links for this series are neither cheap nor easy to find, so an example missing links for sizing is worth less than it looks.
Being integrated, the bracelet has no alternative. On a watch with normal lugs, a ruined bracelet is swapped for a strap and the problem goes away; not here. That's the structural risk in buying a second-hand Link, and the reason it pays to spend more on a clean one than to rescue a battered one.
The polished surfaces on the centre links scratch if you look at them, and refinishing a bracelet like this is delicate work, because each link has brushed and polished areas that have to be treated separately. A generic polish leaves it shiny and shapeless, and it shows instantly. There's less to say about the movement: the Calibre 5 is the house's industrial automatic, 4 Hz and 38 hours, and any watchmaker keeps it running without drama.

Can you fit a strap to the TAG Heuer Link?
Not easily. The bracelet is integrated into the case and the anchor point measures 13 mm, so it won't take standard straps. It's a watch designed to be worn on its original bracelet.
