The storyWhy this reference matters
The first Carreras of 1963 had no bezel. They had a heavily domed Hesalite crystal that fell over the edge of the dial, and the minute scale was printed on that crystal's tension ring rather than on the dial. A practical solution that ended up as the house's visual signature. When TAG Heuer went after the same effect in 2023, it had to cut into sapphire a curve that plexiglass gave for free. Hence the nickname everybody uses: glassbox.
The 2447 is the parent reference of the Carrera chronograph, and you ordered it by letters. The 2447 NS was the black dial with silver registers — what we now call a reverse panda, and what was then simply the way to make the registers readable at a glance. TAG Heuer cites it by its exact code on the product page for this CBS2210, which is unusual for a brand that normally settles the matter with a vague nod to the sixties. Here there's a specific ancestor, with a number.
Inside it isn't the usual Heuer 02. In March 2023 TAG Heuer renamed its integrated chronograph the TH20-00 and took the chance to change the rotor: the Heuer 02 wound in one direction, the TH20 winds in both. It sounds like a triviality and it isn't, because a mainspring that always works near the top of its range delivers torque more evenly. The 80 hours of reserve stay, dropping to around 65 with the chronograph running, by the brand's own figures.

IdentificationHow to tell it apart
The quickest clue is the date: on the CBS2210.FC6534 it's up at twelve, and with the chronograph stopped the seconds hand parks right on top of it. The blue sibling in the same series, the CBS2212.FC6535, has it at six. If someone shows you a black-dial glassbox with the window at the bottom, it isn't this reference.
The three registers sit at 3, 6 and 9: minutes at 3, hours at 9, running seconds at 6, in silver azurage against a circular-brushed black dial. Around them, a sloped black rehaut carries the seconds and minutes scale — that's where the modern design solves what was printed on the crystal itself in 1963.
Check the numbers before you trust a photograph: 39 mm across, 13.9 mm thick, 46 mm lug to lug and 20.7 mm between the lugs. The 13.9 mm looks alarming on paper, but a good part of that height is sapphire dome, not case. Screwed sapphire case back and 100 metres of water resistance.
CollectingWhat collectors check
The crystal is the appeal and also the weak point. A sapphire dome doesn't polish out the way plexiglass does: a knock on the edge or a chip and the only way out is replacement, and it isn't a generic part off the shelf. Look at it against the light while turning the watch slowly, because scratches on a curved surface hide very well seen head on.
The TH20-00 has a column wheel and a vertical clutch. In practice that means the pusher should sink with a clean click and the chronograph hand should start without the jump typical of horizontal clutches. Start and stop it a few times and watch whether the hand returns exactly to zero: an off-centre reset isn't serious, but it's watchmaker's work and worth taking off the price.
This is a 2023 watch, so you're not buying rarity here: you're buying condition and completeness. Box, papers and the original perforated calfskin strap genuinely add up. The folding clasp with its double safety pushers is the same one TAG fits across half the range, and its scratches tell the watch's life better than the case, which has almost always been tidied up.

What does glassbox mean on the 39 mm Carrera?

What's the difference between the TH20-00 calibre and the Heuer 02?

39 mm across and, more to the point, 46 mm lug to lug make it fairly manageable. What needs thinking about is the 13.9 mm height, much of it sapphire dome, which you notice going under a tight cuff.
