The storyWhy this reference matters
Jack Heuer drew the Carrera in 1963 with a 36 mm case, which was what a wristwatch measured when the reference point was the wrist and not the shop window. Sixty years later, for the collection's anniversary, the brand brought that exact figure back and presented it without a gender label: a 36 mm Carrera sold equally to men and women. The point isn't the nostalgic gesture, it's that the proportions of the original design only really work at that size.
The redesign went further than the diameter. The case lost two millimetres of height against the previous 36 mm and settled at 10.2, the crown was sunk to sit flush with the flank, and the H-link bracelet was tapered to meet the case without the step that gave earlier versions away. On the dial, a graduated ring appeared on the rehaut, light to dark, and that's what visually separates the dial from the domed crystal.
Underneath there was a promotion. Where a Calibre 5 with 38 hours of reserve used to go, TAG Heuer fitted the Calibre 7, based on the Sellita SW300 and announced with 56 hours. Know this before you argue with anyone: the product page the brand publishes today for this reference says 42 hours, while the launch release and the specialist press in 2023 said 56. It's the one figure on this watch that isn't settled.

IdentificationHow to tell it apart
The four colours each have their own reference and get mixed up constantly in listings. WBN2310.BA0001 is the silver dial; WBN2311 is blue, WBN2312 green and WBN2313 pink. They all share the 36 mm steel case and the steel bracelet, so the only safe way to know which one is in front of you is to read the four digits.
The hands and applied indices are plated in 18-carat 5N rose gold, filled with Super-LumiNova. That's the detail that gives the silver dial its warm tone, and the one that separates this series from almost any earlier Carrera at this size. The pink variant is the exception: there the plating gives way to a silver finish.
Look at the back: it's sapphire and shows the movement, which is unusual on a 36 mm watch in this bracket. And look at the numbers: 10.2 mm thick, 19 mm between the lugs, and only 50 metres of water resistance — the figure most people discover too late.
CollectingWhat collectors check
Fifty metres is not a hundred. This is a dress watch with a sporty look, not a swimming watch, and the gaskets on an example that has lived through daily showers are the first thing to check. If the seller mentions wearing it in the sea, ask for a pressure test or take the service off the price.
The rose gold plating on the hands and indices is lovely and it is fragile. Plating can't be restored: one mark, one rub or one small pit and the only fix is replacing the part. Look at it with a loupe under raking light, especially the tip of the seconds hand and the twelve o'clock index, which take the most punishment.
The H-link bracelet is half the value of this watch. Check for play between the links by pulling it out flat, and go over the folding clasp with its double safety pushers. Being a recent model, the full set matters too: box, stamped warranty and spare links add up to more than people assume.
