In brief

Transitional is the word that keeps coming up around the 1530. It runs the 15xx family's 19,800 vibrations per hour, but it turns up in far fewer references than the 1500 or the 1570.

Short history

Within the family's development the 1530 sits somewhere in the middle, sharing much of the architecture of its siblings without ever reaching their numbers or attaching itself to one famous model. Along with the 1500 and the 1520 it is among the worst-documented calibres of the generation, partly because Rolex published so little technical information about its own movements.
