Calibre 682 — the other ladies' chronometer

In brief

Two calibres in the 6xx ladies' range left the factory with a chronometer certificate, both of them in 1968. The 682 is the second, adjusted to the same tighter standard as the 672.

Short history

A shared platform, honestly built, is all the 6xx series ever set out to be. Its bridges, wheels and much of its jewelling belong equally to Omega's automatic 5xx calibres — a production economy in the 1960s, a supply of spares today. The same engineering runs through the Genève and De Ville of the period and through the 682, until the manual line stopped in 1974 with quartz dominating Swiss watchmaking.
