Calibre 672 — a ladies' chronometer

In brief

The 672 went to the timing bench before it left the factory. It is the chronometer-certified member of the 6xx ladies' calibres, regulated to a tighter standard than the rest of the women's movements in the series.

Short history

By 1968 the 6xx series was long established, and Omega was still finding room in it. The 672 arrived late, with a chronometer certificate attached to the same underlying design as its uncertified sisters. That design was never exclusive to the manual calibres: bridges, wheels and a large part of the jewelling came from the automatic 5xx range, which simplified manufacture and, as it turned out, made spares easy to find later. Six years afterwards, in 1974, Omega stopped building the manual series; quartz had taken the market in Switzerland.
