Calibre 670 — another ladies' calibre in the series

In brief

Contemporary with the 660 but listed under its own reference number in Omega's catalogue, the 670 is another of the ladies' variants in the manual 6xx family — 17 jewels, early 1960s.

Short history

Omega listed a great many of these calibres, and most differ from one another in small ways rather than large. What they share is where the parts came from: bridges, wheels and much of the jewelling were lifted from the automatic 5xx movements, a decision that trimmed production then and keeps the two families interchangeable now. Nothing here was built to impress, which is rather the point, since these are the movements inside the Genève and De Ville of the era. The manual series was out of production by 1974, the Swiss market having gone over to quartz.
