Calibre 602 — the chronometer-certified version

In brief

Adjusted and certified as a chronometer before it left the factory, the 602 is the most accurate calibre on paper in the whole 60x series. The architecture is the 601's — 17 jewels, no date, eccentric regulator — with the regulating done to a higher standard.

Short history

The 6xx series shares its bridges, its wheels and a good part of its jewelling with the automatic 5xx calibres. That was a manufacturing decision — fewer distinct parts on the factory floor — and its side effect today is that spares interchange between the two families with little trouble. It is a straightforward movement without airs, common in the Genève and De Ville watches of those years. Production of the manual series ended in 1974, quartz having taken the Swiss market by then.
