Calibre 564 — quickset date and chronometer certification

Omega's benchmark certified automatic changed hands in 1966. The 564 kept the 24 jewels of the 561 and added the quickset date introduced that year, taking over as the most advanced certified movement in the family.

Short history

The changeover came in 1966, when the 564 and its quickset date replaced the 561 as the reference certified calibre of the 5xx family. The 24 jewels carried over; the convenience of fast calendar setting was new.

Why it matters

As with every quickset calibre in the family, never set the date while the hands are between 21:00 and 01:00. The mechanism is delicate and it can break.
