Calibre 344 — a late revision of the 342

In brief

Bumper production was in its final years by the time the 344 appeared. A late revision of the 342 within the same 28.1 mm series, it holds on to the 17 jewels and 19,800 vph of everything around it.

Short history

The 344 dates from 1953, when Swiss automatic watchmaking was already moving towards the full rotor that would displace the bumper by the middle of the decade. It is one of the last revisions to the line the 342 had opened as the first Seamaster calibre.
