Sixteen jewels, 18,000 vph and the seconds hand moved to the middle of the dial: that is the 30T2 SC, the centre-seconds reading of the 1939 original and the variant Omega adapted for the large British military order of the Second World War.
Short history
The British Ministry of Defence ordered more than 110,000 of these centre-seconds movements for RAF crews during the Second World War, close to a tenth of everything Omega made in those years. That makes it the reference with the greatest historical weight in the whole 30T2 family; in 1949 the general renumbering turned it into the 28x series.
Why it matters
It underpins one of the largest military contracts in Omega's history: more than 110,000 movements supplied to the RAF during the Second World War, nearly a tenth of the firm's entire output in those years.
