In brief
Among ETA's vintage automatics the 2472 is one of the better known, and within the 24xx family it is the one that already carried a date — in conceptual terms, the forerunner of the 2824-2.
Short history
Still beating at 18,000 vibrations an hour, the 2472 belongs to the generation of ETA automatics that came before the frequency increases of the 1960s and 70s. It shares the 25.6 mm diameter that stayed standard right across the later 24xx family, the 2452 and the 2550 included, and eventually the 2824-2 itself.
