In brief
There is nothing elaborate about the 2390. ETA supplied it to the mid-range Swiss brands for their vintage dress watches, and gave it the 25.6 mm diameter that would later become standard across much of the firm's automatic catalogue.
Short history
That 25.6 mm figure is no accident. It is the same base measurement that turns up again right through ETA's automatic 24xx family — the 2452, the 2472, the 2550 — which says a good deal about how readily the manufacture carried a proven layout across generations of hand-wound and self-winding calibres.
