Who is behind it
Tempus Europa is the personal project of a collector who restores and photographs the watches on it himself. He decides what is kept and why — the data controller, in the language of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
For anything to do with your data, including asking for it to be deleted, write on WhatsApp to +34 687 10 29 77. A person answers; there is no form.
What is stored, and only when you cause it
| Data | When | What for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email, name, photo and username | If you sign in with Google | So your vote, your advert and your score are yours and you can edit them | Until you ask |
| Your advert and its photos | If you list a watch | Showing it in the shop window | Until you withdraw it |
| Your IP address | When you upload a photo | Stopping anyone uploading a thousand photos and taking the site down | 35 days |
| Your email | If you subscribe | Telling you when there is something new | Until you unsubscribe |
| Nickname, country and score | If you play signed in | The Eye Game ranking | Until you ask |
| Page, country and day | Always | Knowing what gets read and what does not | No expiry |
That last row is the only one that happens without you doing anything, and it deserves an explanation. What gets written down is which page was seen, from which country, on which day, added up. There is no identifier, no cookie and no way of telling that two visits came from the same person. It exists to show whether an article gets read, and nothing else. If you would still rather not appear, say so here and this browser stops counting.
Cookies: three of them, no surprises
te_top100_session— only if you sign in. It is what keeps you signed in. It lasts 180 days, no JavaScript can read it, and it does not travel to other sites. Without it there is no session, so it cannot be refused while staying signed in.te-nofaro— only if you ask not to be counted at /soy-yo. It lasts a year and all it says is "do not count this browser".- Google Analytics (
_gaand friends) — only if you accept in the cookie notice. If you say no it is not loaded: not loaded and told to stay quiet, but never downloaded at all.
You can change your mind whenever you like by clearing this site's data in your browser: you will be asked again next time.
Who it is shared with
Nobody, for money. Your data is never sold and never handed over for advertising. But this site runs on other people's services, and you should know which:
- Cloudflare — hosts the site and the database. Everything stored lives there.
- Google — sign-in, Analytics (only if you accept) and the typefaces. The typefaces load from Google's servers, so your IP address reaches Google the moment you open any page, whether or not you accept cookies. We say so because it is true and almost no site mentions it.
- Airtable — where our own catalogue of watches for sale is kept.
- Amazon and Catawiki — affiliate links. Clicking one takes you off this site and onto theirs, under their rules. All that is recorded here is that somebody clicked that product: never who.
- WhatsApp — if you write, the conversation belongs to Meta, not to us.
What you can demand
The GDPR gives you the right to ask for a copy of what is held about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to its use and to take it somewhere else. You do not have to explain why.
Ask on the WhatsApp number above and it gets done. If something were not handled properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency, or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 14 and no data is knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has left data here, say so on WhatsApp and it will be deleted.
If this changes
When the site starts doing something new with data, this page is updated the same day and the date below changes. There is no small print reserving the right to change the rules without telling you.
